Our educational programs cater to children from PreK to 5th grade, carefully crafted around engaging themes and completely in sync with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. Each program offers hands-on activities, investigative sessions, and ample time for students to immerse themselves in our captivating exhibits.

*Wednesday morning and some Wednesday afternoon Field Trips are unavailable during the school year due to our program schedules.
**S.T.E.A.M. activities are unavailable for Field Trips during the Summer due to our Summer Camp schedules.
Booking & Policies
- Add an additional $30 to rent the classroom for lunch or snack as a group. Not available during summer months.
- Max group size: 50 students
- Minimum group size: 10 students
- Schedule at least two weeks in advance
During the school year, visits may include a STEAM activity; during Summer, museum only.

Our field trips are designed to establish and build critical thinking skills for students of all ages.
All classroom activities, during your field trip, can be customized to the subject matter that your class is studying at that time. Give us a call and we can plan a visit outside of what is listed below.

Pre-Kindergarten
Make It Matter: Bubbling Bubbles
Through hands-on observations, students gain an understanding of the scientific concepts underlying the enchanting phenomenon of bubbles. Students will rotate through four stations which include the bubble wall, bubble in a bubble, creating a bubble mountain, and bubble art.
Pre-Kindergarten
Make It Beautiful: Mix it Up
In this exciting art activity, students explore color theory after a reading of “Mix-It-Up” by Hervé Tullet, students will paint using primary colors and mixing them to create secondary colors.
Kindergarten
Make It Work: Magnificent Magnets
In this science exploration, students will participate in a series of hands-on activities to investigate the fascinating properties of magnets. Students will rotate through five stations which include magnetic sorting, magnetic cars, enclosed magnetic shaving exploration, magnetic ring stack, and magnetic weight testing
Kindergarten
Make It Bright: All About Light
In this enlightening science exploration, students will investigate light, shadows, and prisms through four stations. Through these illuminating stations, students will create shadow puppets, prism art, test light refraction, and a NISE (National Informal STEM Education Network) activity “Bear Shadow.”

1st Grade
Make It Matter: Water, Water Everywhere!
In this interactive learning experience, students will dive into all things water. Through a series of five stations, students explore properties of water, the stages of the water cycle, investigate clouds, and test objects through sink or float. Students will have a greater understanding of the importance of water in our environment.
1st Grade
Make It Work: Force and Motion
In this dynamic science exploration, students will participate in a hands-on learning experience to understand the principles of force and motion through four stations that focus on push, pull, and testing different force on objects.
2nd Grade
Make It Work: Straw Boat Challenge
In this S.T.E.A.M. activity, students are tasked with building a straw boat using limited materials. Through this timed experiment, students not only explore principles of buoyancy and weight distribution but also develop problem-solving skills while working through many engineering concepts.

Make It Cosmic: Telescope Adventure
In this immersive educational experience, students will investigate and learn about telescopes through a combination of activities. In our Emerald mobile planetarium students will watch a presentation on the history of the telescope, explore a real-life telescope, and participate in a NISE (National Informal STEM Education Network) kit activity.
3rd Grade
Make It Matter: Solids, Liquids, and Gasses, Oh My!
In this scientific exploration, students delve into the properties of solids, liquids, and gasses through investigations of two different types of reactions, chemical and physical. Students will create a gas through a chemical reaction with a liquid and a solid, and create a non-Newtonian fluid using a solid and a liquid.
3rd Grade
Make It Cosmic: Solar System Exploration
In this captivating educational experience, students embark on a cosmic journey to explore the wonders of the solar system in the Emerald mobile planetarium. Students will be able to identify planets, stars, and answer questions based off of NASA data. This learning experience ignites a sense of awe and discovery of outer space.
4th Grade
Make It Wild: Food Webs
In this science lesson, students dive into the intricate relationships of ecosystems by learning about food chains and webs through three activities. Students will solve and create a food chain to take home and participate in a food web class activity and test their knowledge with a Food Web classification game.
4th Grade
Make It Work: Circuits
In this electrifying science exploration, students will create circuits while also investigating with conductors and insulators through four different stations. Students will test objects with a circuit stick, create squishy and board circuits, and participate in a NISE (National Informal STEM Education Network) kit activity “Build a Battery.”
5th Grade
Make It Wild: Ecosystem Changes
In this exploration, students dive into the dynamics of food webs, ecosystem components, and the impact of various factors on environmental balance. Through hands-on activities and discussions, students gain an understanding of living organisms and their environment, sort abiotic and biotic factors as well as learned and instinctive behaviors, participate in a NISE (National Informal STEM Education Network) kit activity “Oil Spill”, and create a food web in a class activity.
5th Grade
Make It Science: Weather Effects Hurricane
In this educational lesson, students will participate in a hands-on learning experience focused on the science of hurricanes. Students will construct a building and test its strength against hurricane force winds, rain, and flooding. It provides students the ability to apply their knowledge of impact of severe weather to infrastructure and our environment.
2nd-5th Grade
Make It Chemistry: BASF Playful Polymers
In this educational activity, students engage in a fun and interactive lesson on polymers by creating slime. Students will learn how polymers are formed through a short presentation, discuss polymer chains. and then put their knowledge to the test by creating slime using a recipe courtesy of BASF, our museum partner. This hands-on experience will allow students to step into the world of chemistry and leave with a free BASF backpack to take home.
Sensory Friendly
Make It Sensational: Sensory Science
In this educational activity, students are engaged in an interactive and sensory-friendly learning experience that focuses on exploring objects designed to cater to different sensory needs. The students are encouraged to investigate various sensory-friendly objects while working on their fine and gross motor skills. These activities will enhance the skills of sensory awareness, exploration, and understanding while allowing the students to interact with museum staff and volunteers.
